Pros

* High quality and interesting engineering products/projects which meaningfully improve people's lives and health * Competitive compensation, particularly in the healthcare technology sector * Highly qualified and intelligent employees who are great to work with * Good benefits and perks: nice cafeterias, frequent corporate sponsored events, "collegial" feel * Programs and support for career advancement and training (conferences, selective corporate programs, career coaching, etc) * High ownership environment: sink or swim

Cons

* Intense and unreasonable (changing) targets which are not adequately supported (managerially, financially, and logistically) * Questionable ethics (with regards to employee evaluations, expectations and relations): works very well for individuals with a certain personality -- highly optimistic, "yes sir", done matters more than whether it was done well, those who are highly confident (ie those who do not take personal accountability) * Significant barriers for career advancement & leveling

Pros

Strong leadership from the CEO provides confidence in the company’s overall direction Talented and dedicated employees who care about the quality of their work Opportunities to work on meaningful projects Strong collaboration among peers and individual contributors

Cons

Micromanagement and frequent changes in direction make it difficult for employees to work with confidence People can feel guarded and hesitant to share honest feedback because they are concerned about retaliation Employee feedback is collected, but serious concerns are not always addressed independently or transparently Leadership is sometimes responsible for interpreting and resolving concerns about its own behavior, which creates a conflict of interest Strong performance and long-term contributions are not always recognized, and opportunities for internal promotion can feel limited or inconsistently applied Senior leaders and HR need to take a more active role in addressing workplace culture and holding leaders accountable
