I’ve worked for this company for a while now, and unfortunately, the experience has only gotten worse. What started as a fair opportunity in the subtitling and translation industry has turned into a frustrating and underpaid job. The most concerning issue is the company's constant lowering of rates. Over time, they’ve cut compensation for translation work, making it nearly impossible to earn a fair wage for the effort required.
Recently, they’ve introduced AI translation as a way to "boost efficiency." In reality, the AI-generated subtitles are terrible and riddled with errors. Instead of helping, it takes even more time to proofread and correct the AI's mistakes than it would have to just translate from scratch. The quality of the AI translation is so bad that it often makes no sense, which adds a layer of frustration to the job.
What’s worse is that despite this increase in workload, the company hasn’t adjusted compensation to reflect the extra time spent fixing these problems. It feels like they are trying to get away with paying even less for more work.
In short, this company no longer values its translators or the quality of the work being produced. I would not recommend working here unless you’re okay with being undervalued and underpaid.
