Pros

You can work from home, this is the only good thing I can say about this company.

Cons

I’ve worked for this company for a while now, and unfortunately, the experience has only gotten worse. What started as a fair opportunity in the subtitling and translation industry has turned into a frustrating and underpaid job. The most concerning issue is the company's constant lowering of rates. Over time, they’ve cut compensation for translation work, making it nearly impossible to earn a fair wage for the effort required. Recently, they’ve introduced AI translation as a way to "boost efficiency." In reality, the AI-generated subtitles are terrible and riddled with errors. Instead of helping, it takes even more time to proofread and correct the AI's mistakes than it would have to just translate from scratch. The quality of the AI translation is so bad that it often makes no sense, which adds a layer of frustration to the job. What’s worse is that despite this increase in workload, the company hasn’t adjusted compensation to reflect the extra time spent fixing these problems. It feels like they are trying to get away with paying even less for more work. In short, this company no longer values its translators or the quality of the work being produced. I would not recommend working here unless you’re okay with being undervalued and underpaid.

Pros

At the beginning, I had stable work and didn’t have to worry about making ends meet. Iyuno was enough as my main income, and I could live comfortably.

Cons

Over time, my workload was gradually reduced without any explanation, despite having five years of experience and consistently high-quality work. I was effectively replaced by new translators while being kept in the dark. This has left me uncertain about my future, and unfortunately, I can no longer rely on Iyuno as a primary source of income. After years of dedication and turning down other opportunities to stay loyal, this outcome is very disappointing.

Thank you for your feedback and for the years you contributed as a freelance subtitler. We value the expertise and commitment of our freelance community and are sorry to hear this was your experience. Work volumes in our industry can shift based on client demand, language needs, and project mix. That said, we recognize that changes without clear communication can be frustrating, especially for long-standing contributors. We expect our teams to engage with freelancers respectfully and transparently, and we do not support practices that leave contributors feeling overlooked or disregarded. Your feedback highlights an area where we must continue to improve. Iyuno values quality, experience, and professionalism, and we do not reduce opportunities based on individuals raising questions or concerns. Thank you again for sharing your perspective.
