Pros

-You get to work on exciting, water-cooler conversation titles. -If you're lucky with your team leaders and project coordinators and the projects you're given, with some personal time management and effective communication with your project coordinators, you do get to reduce overtime and gain work-life balance... -People are generally nice and polite -Good for freelancing, especially now that they're growing more partial to hiring freelancers than salaried employees for editors, but be mindful of security protocols since you could work on high-profile titles

Cons

-Constant Flux. They're restructuring almost every quarter -Uses so much care language, tone policing, but very little action -There is no set standard to predict workload for editors, -Kowtows to client too much; production suffers -Is afraid of losing accounts to competition -Deadset on using AI, but no clear direction on how it will be used and how to keep jobs -Management totally out of touch with daily operations; operations are reduced to earnings -Experience you gain doesn't really matter because during the flux, management still decides on the processes and how style guides are applied

Pros

At the beginning, I had stable work and didn’t have to worry about making ends meet. Iyuno was enough as my main income, and I could live comfortably.

Cons

Over time, my workload was gradually reduced without any explanation, despite having five years of experience and consistently high-quality work. I was effectively replaced by new translators while being kept in the dark. This has left me uncertain about my future, and unfortunately, I can no longer rely on Iyuno as a primary source of income. After years of dedication and turning down other opportunities to stay loyal, this outcome is very disappointing.

Thank you for your feedback and for the years you contributed as a freelance subtitler. We value the expertise and commitment of our freelance community and are sorry to hear this was your experience. Work volumes in our industry can shift based on client demand, language needs, and project mix. That said, we recognize that changes without clear communication can be frustrating, especially for long-standing contributors. We expect our teams to engage with freelancers respectfully and transparently, and we do not support practices that leave contributors feeling overlooked or disregarded. Your feedback highlights an area where we must continue to improve. Iyuno values quality, experience, and professionalism, and we do not reduce opportunities based on individuals raising questions or concerns. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. We wish you continued success.
