Pros
The people that work in this plant are overwhelmingly great people to work with. They are the #1 job perk of working here. The plant has great capabilities in building large equipment and has many experienced/skilled workers. Many of these employees are coming up on retirement and will leave voids of opportunity for new employees to fill, so lots of opportunity to advance for motivated employees..
Cons
The HR department is terribly incompetent and has no idea how to build a motivated workforce. Most of the employees can't wait until someone higher up realizes how bad the department is running and makes changes. The management team overall seems skilled and knowledgeable but gets railroaded by the segment management whom micromanage every thing they can. The company has a great strategic direction in talk - but they can't get past this quarters financial numbers far enough to invest in any way to actually reach their long term goals. So at this point it is really just talk.
