Despite all the good things - I feel that my team is sort of an oasis. When dealing with other departments that are out of our control - it almost feels like dealing with a bad government program, fill this form, fill that form, do what we tell you…
The most difficult of all is frankly our IT team. I’m not sure what they are doing but for past 5-6-7 years, it seems that we can’t get any execution out of them and our senior leaders seem unwilling to push the issue.
I still have my goals and numbers that I am held to but despite purchasing all kinds of tools and clouds and whatever, I still can’t get the data I need and have to use Excel on my own data sources. How can we have literally dozens of architects but no cohesive data practice?
I think this org is upside down - our ‘business’ runs the the business and drives revenues but IT seems to get all the budget and I get charged against those huge budgets despite having no insight or control.
So despite all of our cool HR values and such - we have no control over our profits and that makes for a bad experience.
