Pros

Lots of changes in IT (I hope) that will potentially be good for us JM does a great job of recruiting some very strong people

Cons

JM has an issue that the environment in technology essentially nullifies the great talent they bring in. For example, I have seen time and again great people brought into the technology department and inside of a year, they have been blocked and rendered ineffective by the existing leadership. People tend to have a very threatened personality and as a result lash out in passive aggressive ways. I have to ask - how can there be so many 15 year plus associates in tech but yet the department is so ineffective? Why are these mature associates not able to coach and get the best out of people? Maybe it is time to change the coach? Maybe the players are not the issue? A number of years ago - JM was the place to be - now it is a job that you go to and just close your ears due to all the stupid that is spouted by the leadership (VPs and directors).

Pros

JM provides good opportunities for the range of professional corporate occupations available in South Florida.

Cons

Too much "get along, go along" culture which may be okay if one is planning to stay with JM through retirement, but is not helpful if one's career progression involves employment with other companies. As a rule, the best places I worked at encouraged creativity, systems thinking, adaptability, integrity, and trust. These values felt lacking during my six-month tenure at JM back in 2014.
