So disappointing - IT Professional JM Family Enterprises Employee Review

Pros

So far, I have been paid on time in direct deposit.

Cons

Lack of willingness of others to collaborate. Just so much arrogance in IT, we have VP's that really don't do anything at all, directors and architects that just seem to get in the way. I guess managers approve timecards - unsure of the rest of their role. Accepted the job under the impression that this was the place to be in the south. However, anytime ideas are brought up comparing to Google or some other strong tech company the refrain is "We are not Google". Seems to be filled with those just collecting a paycheck - not really looking to improve the business, just doing the minimum and not creating any type of action that could cause others to have to learn and improve.

Pros

JM provides good opportunities for the range of professional corporate occupations available in South Florida.

Cons

Too much "get along, go along" culture which may be okay if one is planning to stay with JM through retirement, but is not helpful if one's career progression involves employment with other companies. As a rule, the best places I worked at encouraged creativity, systems thinking, adaptability, integrity, and trust. These values felt lacking during my six-month tenure at JM back in 2014.
