Pros

The pay is very competitive as they had a significant pay increase in 2021 for most employees. Before this it was below average for the industry. There are a few great people to work with, from other techs to engineers there is a solid core of people who actually care about each other and the projects they work on.

Cons

For mill techs: -This is not a resume building, or career enhancing training ground. Janicki is extremely niche and most of their systems are home-brew. Your skills are not likely to convert well to other places in the same field. -You may receive a decent bonus after your initial training. In my experience this is the last significant raise you will receive. Unless, however, you decide you want to work a swing shift, graveyard shift, or on the weekends. BEWARE if you do move to one of these shifts you are stuck there. For Engineers: -you will be asked to work more than 40 hours a week, you will be asked to be on call 24/7, you will not be given adequate training. You will be looked down on for not answering your phone at 2am on a Sunday, perhaps even reprimanded. A healthy work life balance cannot exist while working as an engineer for Janicki. For part time/full time students: I have witnessed many try and fail to work and go to school while at Janicki. The hours are harsh, and the work is mentally and physically exhausting. If you can convince them to hire you on part time this will be your only way of successfully getting a degree.

Pros

Janicki is a large company and expanding quickly, but still has the feel of a family owned company. There is a great work to life balance and they focus a lot of the core values. Although its a 24-7 operation, communication from the floor to uppers is always open. Everyone is genuinely willing to help and are happy to train. I have worked here over a year and don't regret the move. Its a fantastic company to work for.

Cons

Its a faced paced environment that requires you to think on your feet at all times. Its not a plug and play world. So if you can't function in that type of work environment, you won't succeed.
