From my viewpoint, senior leadership did not trust, value or act on the experience and leadership of the companies they acquire. Instead they believed they knew best and tried to force the business model they knew onto these companies. This resulted in talent leaving and low moral for those who tried to stick it out. I believe, JH bit off more than it could chew with all of their M&A activity. This came at the expense of a heathy and thriving work culture and is instead replaced it with a very traditional, authoritarian, top down, fear based hierarchy. And while there is seemingly plenty of opportunity for those looking for a challenge and want to grow, unfortunately, because decisions are made so high up, it’s hard to make any impact unless your in senior leadership, so most people are along for the ride.
