Pros
Good, flexible hours, unionized, friendly coworkers. The store has a lot of potential in the community. It's the nicest grocery store in the area. It's also good customer service experience. And also there are a lot of great managers, but there also have been a few bad ones.
Cons
Some of the managers don't know how to be a manager. They don't have people skills and can be really mean and degrading towards employees under them. Quit complaining to us all the time and actually show us respect. Most people in the town I Live in in don't want to work for us at all because everyone knows how horrible they treat us sometimes. Also they don't give people many hours some weeks even though there's still a lot to get done, which is also a big reason people quit so fast or do t want to even apply. I took a class in college about management and none of the managers know how to manage properly at jewel so it's always disorganized and they have no people skills. Don't scream at us to do somthing i(f we are already working hard), that goes AGAINST Union policy! Which is what a manager should have. And this isn't limited to just my store, there are a lot of other stores that have nasty managers from what I've heard. I've also talked to another manager at another store who has the exact same feelings on this subject.
