Pros
If you are an opportunist you can do well here. After twenty years I'm capped at $16.50 an hour. Raises aren't based on performance. You don't have to beg for them and their higher than most places I've worked. The union protects employees from getting fired for 'made up ' reasons. You have to be really incompetent to lose your job.
Cons
Currently new hires have to wait to receive benefits for about a year(only reason I still work here) and they are very demanding on their employees. Expect to not get a break for 4 to 5 hours and sometimes not given at all because the customers come first, when working checkout area. Everyone is understaffed so you are required to do 2 or 3 jobs at the same time. It's not unusual for someone to have to check, work customer service counter, authorize liquor purchases at other registers, get necessary change for cashiers... the list continues. All this while your manager is wandering around the store. Management is very tyrannical while doing little to help.
