Pros
Union (some people like this, some don't), paid breaks with an optional unpaid lunch, holiday pay and flexible hours Working at jewel osco is a good experience, but if you don't work up or find a different job you should get out. There are opportunities to get switched to other departments such as floral, meat department, bakery... which would be a good "apprentice" type experience if you were looking to branch out or work at an actual bakery or something. Also they have mandatory raises set up, but they aren't very large.
Cons
Management is often not in touch with what is actually going on. The union is uneccesary and ruthless, they will come begging for more money despite the fact that it's a grocery store, not a coal mine, there really isn't a need for a union. Raises are small, starting pay is small. I know grocery stores that are similar and start with much higher wages.
