Pros
I very much enjoy my job as a teacher at a school in the K12 network. My specific principal is very open to allowing me to try new things and modify my course in a way that I think best way to serve our students. I feel respected and like my voice matters. Additionally, the flexibility is amazing. I can schedule my lunch break so I can volunteer in my daughter's classroom or go to a dr. appointment - no need for sub plans - yay! Also, many of the assignments are computer graded, so I do not need to grade as much as I did in a brick and mortar classroom. After my first year, I have been able to complete my job in a 40 hour week.
Cons
The benefits are expensive! I pay ~$350 a paycheck and still have a $5000 deductible until covered 80/20. The pay is not as good as if I were in a brick and mortar classroom, but I have no commute and my schedule is somewhat flexible.
