Pros
Working from home and that’s it.
Cons
What isn’t a con of working for K-12? You are teaching for “the test” in every aspect. When state testing begins you are required to stop what you’re doing in classes (which causes students to get behind) just so you can sit in a room that’s at least 20-30 minutes away from home to give a test. 20-30 minutes is generous as I’ve had to personally drive over an hour DAILY for testing. The special education department in particular gets crapped on the most. No one cares. The bonuses are a joke. They don’t send fun things throughout the year, birthdays aren’t recognized and there’s rarely even a “shout out” for your hard work. The work load has grown immensely over the years. If you aren’t working after 4pm or before 8am then you’re behind. The students get away with horrible attendance and all they have to do to have days missed forgiven is just to log in for an hour or so on the weekends and they’re attendance basically starts over so they’re never truant. Yet even though they don’t log in you are still expected to call/text them daily and you’re still judged off their performance. Students don’t participate in class? No worries! That’ll be reflected on your monthly and bi-annual reviews and observations and you will be scored poorly because students refuse to be on camera or talk on mics. Do you love being bullied? Then this job is perfect for you! Upper management have parties together and turn a night out into a drinking fest. What an absolute joke.
