Pros
-Excellent leadership: From my experience working with them, KIPP LA's executive team and school leaders are deeply committed to student success and well being. Their care permeates throughout the organization and schools. -Speed of innovation: If you have a great idea, you can act fast on it. During my 1 year at KIPP LA, my manager supported me in taking on several projects that were technically "outside my scope," but where I believed I could make a difference. -Collaborative culture: Feels like you're in it together. People often step outside of their roles to help one another to succeed so they can better support students. -Professional development: KIPP LA invests heavily in employee development. They frequently hold trainings for teachers or central staff and encourage attending educational workshops. -Focus on the KIPPsters (students): Every decision I saw made at KIPP LA first thought about the best interests of our KIPPsters. If you're looking for a truly mission-driven organization, this is a great place to be.
Cons
-Compared to private sector (i.e. tech, consulting, banking) salaries are lower. However, this is consistent across education due to (IMO) relatively low government funding for K-12. KIPP LA seems to pay above the industry average for education.
