Pros

Sometimes the job can be very flexible. During summer, I work from home once every week or two. Also, Jumpstart Fridays are great (leave the office at 3pm). I've met some great people at KPMG trainings from different practices. A lot of happy hours and team lunches/ dinners.

Cons

When newly hired, you are thrown into the ocean and forced to learn how to swim. I had no real experience with IT Advisory and learning was frustrating because of lack of guidance. The job is VERY tedious and lacks the growth to learn any hard skills. I feel like I am loosing opportunity to grow my career by staying at KPMG. Each day here feels like a day I wasted. KPMG expects you to be a slave to the firm. For about 16 weeks a year I find myself working 55-70 hour weeks with no extra compensation even though I am only scheduled to work 40 hrs a week. KPMG expects your job to be your life. They expect you to be dedicated to the job like it is a startup.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
