Pros
You will feel like a member of an elite class. You will make more money than most people you graduated with. You will fly around the country and stay in elegant hotels. You will feel secure and important. This is a company that believes in itself and promotes from within. If you stay with the company, you are a guaranteed millionaire, especially if you are hardworking, clever, and motivated. You will work on the most complex, large, and technical projects in the industry. Life will often feel like an adventure. You will never be bored. You will be offered varied opportunities and will have stories to tell. Your parents will be proud of you. The benefits are great, its all paid for, yes you can order a beer with dinner, and yes the american dream is still alive at Kiewit. Your hard work will pay off.
Cons
Kiewit gives lip service to work/life balance but in no way encourages it. Any hour of any day is fair game and a 60-80 work week is common. You will not in any way be compensated for overtime. Management is often aloof and highly demanding. The culture is also extremely conservative (read: backward) and skeptical of technology. Beer is a necessity at all company functions. The company funnels its profits to an elite good ol boy club of senior managers who often waste company resources. The company rewards loyalty but requires a long testing period with the majority of wealth and compensation coming after 15-20 years with the company.
