Pros

Learned how to drive a bus, left with a license I can use throughout the United States. Healthcare was top-notch, Pension and Compensation was excellent.

Cons

Low seniority drivers get short assignments and split shifts (2hours in am and 3-4hours in pm) initially but after 2 years you could choose reasonably. Transition to FT would lower your seniority again and would get extra-board assignments in the evening/afternoon and would usually be split again but longer. Kept on applying to programs (mechanic apprentice/light rail/street car) but low seniority after 2 years = not good enough.

Pros

Came to Rail from another division in the county, so much better than certain customer facing divisions. Work like balance and hybrid model are great. Lots of room for advancement in the admin world if you want it.

Cons

Can feel like you’re being micro managed or watched from the top at times but middle management is usually good at mitigating this.
