You are more likely to find yourself working under the authority and whim of some long-term employees who do not know what they are doing but somehow figured out ways to play the politics and have survived. They either provide no guidance at all or give misleading and wrong opinions.
Quality check is minimal, work completed by a favored junior level staff could be submitted unreviewed or under reviewed. When project issues are exposed, or proposals failed, these seasoned people would show remarkable talent in finding smart excuses to cover up their own lack of expertise, judgment, and diligence.
Most projects are not measuring up to industrial standards. (except for those that are managed by very few well-qualified project managers)
Overall, the company is reluctant to embrace technical excellence, possibly because senior-level managers can not tell what good quality versus bad quality work is, or even right versus wrong.
