Pros

Trying to be completely pragmatic in my review, KAGR is not a great company to work for. What you'll see going through the reviews are many 1 star reviews, then all of a sudden 5 star reviews. They knew they were taking a hit when recruiting and asked people to add positive reviews. An average of 3.6 is probably still a bit high. Based on the 5 star glassdoor system, it's hard to give anything here 3 stars, but some things are close but not quite there yet. The pros will depend vastly on your team/manager, but know that you manager has very little influence on some of the cons. Pros: - As a small company, there is a lot of different areas to work on (the con of this is they are understaffed so you are forced into wearing multiple hats, never being able to really get good at any of them). - Decent benefits - 401k with a match, health insurance was at least "good" and not horribly priced. - Depending on the team, you have some level of control over how much you work, but this is certainly an org which still things staying in the office until 7pm means you are a better worker. - Rank and file workers were good when i was there, and was able to form some good relationships.

Cons

- No focus on what the company does or is. This means a project you pour your heart into will end up going no where, or you will be pulled from project to project. This is, unfortunately, driven from the very top of the organization. - Very cliquey upper management group, with the culture seemingly derived somewhat from the Patriots organization. Its "do your job" from a from a football perspective, however that doesn't translate into business culture. - Lots of micromanagement also from the top of the org which causes them to hyper focus on being in the office. There was a group of middle managers trying to infuse a remote culture before COVID, and they were always turned down in their efforts. In fact, KAGR had no intention of going remote until the state forced their hand because of COVID and were attempting a full return to office that first spring and summer before anyone had access to vaccines. - Pay is far below average, even before 2022 inflation.

Pros

Small and collegial environment with a friendly and intelligent team. A great place to work if you enjoy sports, as many employees are passionate fans. Work-life balance was excellent in my role, though this may vary by department. Employee contributions are genuinely valued and recognized through monthly all-hands meetings, where colleagues can publicly give shout-outs. I experienced performance challenges during my first year, but the company continued to bet on me and gave me the opportunity to improve. I've stayed for two years since that time.

Cons

No major cons to speak of.
