Pros
They work with my crazy schedule. The store I work in does not usually have an inordinate amount of drama. It is nice to get things for a reduced fee. There are rules and expectations and they are spelled out. Pay is ok since it is a part-time job.
Cons
The cons are not so much for myself as for what management has to work with. They only get paid half-time for working overtime. Often times the expectations are exceedingly high. There have been times when they do very well on something and the only thing that is highlighted is what they have not done. There are times when they are supposed to be "off" but are still having to be "on the job" because if they are not then things to do not get accomplished that need to be accomplished and "they" will take the blame for it. They have to deal with fairly high turnover. Also, some of the questions on the opinion survey which is available to customers on their receipts have nothing to do with what the management is able to control but they (the management) is still the one who has to deal with the consequences of low scores (e.g. were the items you wanted available in the store? - management has nothing to do with what apparel or beauty items are shipped to the stores OR Were you offered a bra fitting? - some customers come in the store are already aware of their size and may even have a card with their size on it from a recent fitting or were not even coming in the store looking for a bra or...). The worst part is that it is VERY difficult for any management or CSL positions to air their frustrations for fear of being demoted, fired, or ridiculed. The position itself can be difficult due to other extenuating circumstances that are applicable to many management positions.
