Terrible hours, and senior management on a power trip. - Sales Associate L Brands Employee Review

Pros

Employee discount of 15% on clothing, which is nice if it's your style. Also, for people majoring in fashion or sales related fields, Limited Brands does represent a multitude of top consumer brands (i.e. Victoria's Secret, Express, Limited Too, Pottery Barn, and The Limited.) There is, from what I understand, more room for advancement at the corporate level, but where I was, in a retail store, the hierarchy was very rigid and employees very rarely got promoted from the position they were hired to fill. The senior management, with the exception of one, was generally fair in allowing for time off due to school or personal issues, which was another plus.

Cons

The store I worked was run by extremely incompetent senior management who lacked even basic respect toward the floor employees. We were treated, more or less, as slave labor, and were expected to stay at the store until 4 AM some nights, when we were told we would be getting off at 11 PM. There was a very high turnover amongst staff. In the fairly short time I worked at the retail store, approximately 1/4 of the staff quit (and were replaced) due to the unreasonable evening hours, and a particular manager who was on a power trip when it came to every nuance of the store's daily functions.

Pros

If you are smart and willing to do whatever it takes, you will get promoted. If you find the right mentor, your development will be a priority. If you love retail, this is the place for you.

Cons

Hope you get lucky with your manager and director and VP because if you end up in the wrong department on the wrong category, the environment is toxic.
