Pros
- They always have jobs available, due to high turnover. - There are roofs over their workspaces so rain doesn't wet you. - You won't be bothering with company events much. - That's about it.
Cons
- You are a disposable cog that can be shed or downgraded any time. And there's no effort to transition workers gracefully; they're just gone one day and you're back to training another newbie. - Your pay will remain frozen in time forever. - You will likely report to a clueless PM who only understands his own job, if that, and probably has no concept of team building, worker development or anything like that. - Your clueless PM will likely report to an equally clueless executive who is only only focused on a few billing metrics for his bonus. - They lack any good worker performance feedback system. They just rely on subjective verbiage from PM's. The evaluation system is inane; they ask you questions about how you did with things that aren't part of your job but someone else's. And, their system is such that managers can figure out which subordinates said what about them BEFORE they rate those same subordinates. Ripe for retribution. - The handful of really capable people are scattered and siloed and not really aware of each other. - They are immature in terms of office logistics and you will struggle for a month or two to get set up. Your PM will blame you. - You won't really ever know anybody at the company other than your project team. There's very little mixing of teams.
