Pros

The families and my co-workers, the boss that hired me. No weekends

Cons

Loved my job until the lady that hired me died. After that nothing but a nightmare. The temporary director that replaced changed my employment status to part time and I lost all my benefits that I had worked for. I still don't know how she did it considering I worked 40+ hrs. a week. Any way new director was hired and she just don't care about anything but herself. In 3 yrs. she has lost all but 3 long time teachers. Children are allowed to cuss, hit, bite, slap and throw furnitue at teachers and nothing happens to the child. It's always the teachers fault. But if she has to be in a room with children acting badly she NEVER goes back in that room. The pay sucks for what all is expect of you. I was doing 6 different jobs everyday while the director sat in her office coplaining about not being able to get materials for her side job. Worried more about money than the children. Make you feel untrusted being on cameras all the time. There's no learning time because we are always on the IPad filling something and sending pictures to parents that never get them. Worst job ever!

Pros

The kids and families are amazing. It’s so rewarding to go into work and watch a baby learn to walk or a toddler begin to learn their colors and know that I had a part in that. Watching the kids grow and learn was the absolute best part of the job.

Cons

There were a lot of safety concerns. Staff were not all held to the same standard and children were getting hurt because some staff were allowed to slack while others weren’t. I was both parent and staff. My concerns about safety were brushed off by my admin and the district as well. There was favoritism and a lack of training. The pay is also very low. The CEO has never been on the classroom side of childcare and that tells you everything you need to know.
