Pros
Working at a hospital can be very rewarding if you are a person that enjoys helping people. I rated LeeHealth high on “Career Opportunity” since they have such a high turnover and can’t keep staff. They also know they monopolized SW Florida so they arenMt worried about finding replacement staff.
Cons
You are not allowed to get sick, if you do, you are either told to stay at work and wear a mask you’ll be fine (even during the pandemic) or if you try to stay home and avoid getting vulnerable patients sick, it counts as a strike against you! The hospital does not care about it’s employees health and safety and will not try to avoid burnout. Nurse and CNA to patient ratios are unrealistic in a setting where we are supposed to give quality care to each patient. You are told to give quality care but more emphasis is put on zooming through your patients and taking care of them. It astaounds me to think I got a glowing review across the board and how I establish great healthcare worker to patient relationships and take great care of them but am “too slow” at doing my job. I had to make a decision on if I will take great care of my patients and continue getting in trouble for not being able to work with 9 or more patients at the unrealistic speed they want me to, or I have to draw a line and put the hospital and their quotas firstZ For a healthcare system that puts it’s patients first, it’s sad to see an environment that encourages rushed patients care, allowing room to overlook patient issues and needs.
