Pros
Most office personnel are friendly and easy to get along with, same goes for shop employees. Inside sales working for Brian, you will receive great training, help and resources. He will set you up for success in other inside sales roles. Shop works harder than most to make sure this place stays profitable. Job security is good due to extremely high turnover and lack of management involvement. High tolerability for mistakes / lack of product knowledge due to no training.
Cons
After working at Leitz GR for two years in two positions, I did more training of new employees in my final three weeks than I received in the previous two years. You will be set up to fail from the beginning if you work as an SSR in GR. As an SSR (in Grand Rapids) you will receive almost no help whatsoever from the territory manager, you will be handed a set of car keys, a cell phone and told to "go sell tiger". Multiple attempts for some sort of training were met with responses of "training is OTJ" and excessive shouting. It took 6 months of asking for help to receive a one day of in person training by upper management after multiple refusals by territory manager. You will have to learn the majority of your daily duties on your own, by asking shop staff, or other SSRs. Majority of the job is trial by fire. Be prepared to be miserable and walking on eggshells daily if you accept this position. Pay is not competitive with similar jobs in the area, when you do get a raise it usually takes multiple months to reflect in your paychecks. Majority of employees are not happy and express this daily to fellow non-management. Office and technology is behind, German HQ will not allow advances. Management is very condescending towards lower level employees. They protect the top earners regardless of how poorly they treat fellow employees and small customers.
