Pros

this place starts out cool. everyone is young and its a fun environment to work in, with the potential to make good friends with your coworkers which for me was a plus. mobility is pretty good and your work is also pretty interesting most of the time. that and the startup cred is really the only positive thing about this place.

Cons

honestly, scvngr/level up is an organizational nightmare. on paper it seems awesome - the company has the potential to be one of the coolest startups out there, but its totally lost on this place. the management is mostly just a bunch of bros who have no idea what its like to be an employee. there's an overall kind of sexist feel and a lot of inter-office drama. if you get frustrated with the way things are and try to proactively change anything, you'll most likely get fired. they rate at which they fire people is insane. it's unfair to the people who work their asses off and then get fired without notice and to everyone else still around who is terrified they are next. management also encourages falsifying information which makes employees really uncomfortable. the metrics expressed to the public/clients are almost always completely made up. pay is pretty low for the hours put in, and thats compared to other startups. non-engineers also tend to feel underappreciated, particularly by upper management (for example, only the engineers are ordered catered lunch everyday). there's pretty much an army of very talented people who have left this place on bad terms, and it's not because they don't vet people properly in the interview process. i wish i could say more good things about level up since a lot of my good friends are still there, but i would never recommend working here in a million years.

Pros

- Amazing opportunities for personal growth. When I started, I was super junior and kept my nose down and focused on doing my job well, because I felt like everyone around me was so clever and productive that I had to prove myself every day. That feeling of "Alright, today, too, I'm going to show my worth to my peers!!" has pushed me to grow so much since I started. It was totally unexpected and I couldn't possibly show ample gratitude for how much I've learned here! - Smart colleagues--I mean, SMART. I mean the level of smart that makes you hiss "how do I become you" between your teeth during meetings. - Driven, dedicated, passionate leadership. Even after a rough week or month of super fiery customers/clients, just listening to Seth talk about our direction, our opportunities, and our challenges gets me super fired up.

Cons

I don't see these as downsides, just things to be aware of when pursuing work here: - it's hard--there's a lot to do, like A LOT to do. Not a company for folks just looking for something to get by; definitely a company for folks who want something they can get passionate about and commit to! - everything changes, a lot! Those who are change-resistant, need constancy, or don't handle rapid evolution well should beware. Those who love that sort of atmosphere will have an awesome, kick-ass time :]
