Not a bad place to work short of a questionable management team - Business Systems Analyst Liberty Mutual Insurance Employee Review

Pros

Good Work/Life balance with flexible hours and encouraged time off. Managers are generally accepting of an individuals schedule that best suites their individual work needs. Vacation time is ample and is almost always approved when requested off. Employees are able to come in early and leave early, or come in late and leave late - whichever works best for their particular lifestyle. The salary appears to be comprable to other near by companies in the area and the benefits are also quite sufficient. As far as places to work in the area, Liberty Mutual is probably one of the more preferred companies one could work for.

Cons

Senior Management, and management in general appears more interested in the day to day bureaucracy and power struggles than they are about actually getting things done. It must concern an individual from the outside looking in, or from the inside looking out for that matter, that the company is just nailing down its internet site now - in 2008. A little late to the party... Very conservative in decision making and the acceptance of new ideas and thoughts. Lack of understanding from management regarding what employees do and the nature of work being accomplished on the ground. A definitely disconect between management and employees.

Pros

Work from home, only in office twice a month

Cons

-Extremely high paced -Too many claims. Caseload is way too big. -Super stressful having to deal with customers. A lot of them don’t understand insurance or what their policy covers so you will constantly deal with pissed off uninformed insureds -metrics are unrealistic and unattainable. You need to have a 98% answer rate but at the same time you have a million cases and people calling you constantly so this is impossible to achieve. On top of that you have to actually document and determine liability. -Awful work life balance
