Pros

high pay for supermarkets - still didn't make up for what I had to put up with. nice people

Cons

Their expectations of you are absolutely ridiculous. The reason Lidl and Aldi aswell offer higher rates of pay compared to Tesco's, Sainsbury's etc. is because unlike these stores who'll have maybe 20 employees minimum working in a good sized store at a given time, Lidl will have maybe 4 or 5 people working in the same sized store. Because of this, the workload is ridiculously ambitious, meaning everyone has to multitask tills, putting out stock, cleaning, getting rid of cardboard, checking fresh produce for damaged items, reductions etc. This usually means you're stuck in the store till past when you're meant to finish by a good 15-20 minutes - one time I worked 4 hours over my finishing time. Another time a manager forced me to clock out early and carry on working because the store was over budget on wages and the work wasn't finished yet.

Pros

Intelligent engaged people, Modern offices, Decent pay, and good retirement benefits.

Cons

Growing pains of a European company modifying its business to grow its American footprint. Senior leadership was mostly European. Felt disconnected from American grocery culture.
