Pros

I had a wonderful fit in a supervisor, which I believe had a HUGE impact on my experience. She worked with my personal goals for professional development as a therapist, which included self of therapist work. I could call or text her at any time (within reason) for support. I gained so much confidence during my time at LifeStance thanks to my supervisor's support and guidance. Self determined scheduling was great for me. I started off working 4-days/week, but felt seeing 6-8 clients/day was not sustainable. Having the freedom to change my schedule and take time off as needed was great. In person office was provided for my by LifeStance, including furniture. This was a necessity as I work with children and families doing Play Therapy. I had freedom of which days I wanted to work remotely or in office. Electronic Health Records system was easy to navigate once I completed the training. LifeStance provided me with a laptop to work remotely.

Cons

There is a hefty amount of documentation required for most clients. During my time at LifeStance, Medicaid documentation was reduced thankfully. Caseload is about 70% Medicaid clients for candidate therapists like me; I was not paid for any no call no shows from Medicaid clients, but was made aware of this upfront in the hiring process.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
