Great on Paper, Bad in Practice. - Therapist LifeStance Health Employee Review

Pros

Somewhat control over the schedule. If you'd prefer long days, but fewer days a week that is possible. Or, if you'd like to only work in the evenings or mornings that is mostly doable (though it'd impact your caseload). The therapist is not in charge of billing which can be nice, but this means billing difficulties are out of your hands and can make things hard for your clients (especially when they can never get ahold of billing). Additionally, they are working towards offering more broad training opportunities.

Cons

- No PTO for therapists. A clear divide between the benefits received as management and the benefits received as a therapist. - No room for growth. Raises are not given; instead, the client "rates" change and the company reflects this as minimal raises. - Constant changes to policies and system requirements. This is mostly an acquisitions company. They will keep things mostly the same at first and will gradually change things to fit what their business model needs rather than what benefits clients and therapists. - Ineffective intake system. It's difficult to get open slots filled which makes getting your quota and making a consistent paycheck. Honestly, this is a company that prioritizes making money and the business over the needs of its clients and employees.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
