Pros

High turnover so it's easy to get a job here. Managers are often over worked so that there is little oversight and you are able to do your work as you choose. One of the highest paid group practices, insurance was great, and the 401k matching was pretty nice.

Cons

Lack of support. Officemates rarely attend consultation groups and seem to act as if they are in their private practice. Disappointing as I joined a group practice for collaboration, connection, and peer support. Billing is a mess and stressed my clients out as they often received bills much higher than what they were quoted during scheduling and intake period. Again, another reason I came to a large group practice was for billing support and I felt LS severely lacked in their area and I spent so much more time trying to advocate for my clients. No growth opportunities. Most higher level positions or unique opportunities (eg clinical supervisor for candidates) were filled with no posting. They claimed to be changing this when I left but make close friends with those in high up positions if you want to grow as it seems to be the only way to do that in this company. It felt like I was always matched with the clients who fit me the least. I have no trying or expertise in substance use yet those in active addiction or early recovery were constantly scheduled with me. We had so many amazing certified addiction counselors yet, and this was before the online scheduling option, they kept being given to me.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
