Pros

Seeing kids pictures with their smiling faces everyday Some very nice and fun people to work with Corporate Headquarters is very nice, new and modern ESOP (but is getting to be less and less)

Cons

Horrible work systems (webpage, MRP, ordering, etc.) Employee makeup - either they have been there forever (mostly management) and are stuck in their ways, which kills new insights, opportunity, imagination, enthusiasm or they are people in the beginning stages of their professional career. Basically the people there are either there to finish up their careers and don't want to see any change or they have just started at the company AND once these employees figure out how crummy it is working their and get some experience on their resume they bolt.

Pros

Strong since of community at local level, and support from Directors and regional managers however all that support is no longer employed.

Cons

Revolving CEO lead to new strategic focus every 3 years. Round after round of layoffs, mergers, restructures. I went through no less than 6 during my 5 years as a senior manager. Lost local control, and ability to build relationships with accounts. Closed offices based on lease agreements rather than area performance. I would be very careful to ask questions about culture, and tenure of staff, ask how many offices were closed or restructures have happened since Shutterfly, and then Apollo Global Capital. Apollo Global Management usually holds onto assets for 3-5 years, we are past that mark so I would be expecting that they will be breaking up Shutterfly in the near future if it is no longer profitable.
