Pros

-Good pay on job days. -You can find that handful of people you love to work with. -You are pretty much independent. -A social job. -Meet new people.

Cons

-Bad communication with management. -You can have very stressful workdays & can be there for 10 hours not including travel time. -In thew NY Metro area you only work 8-10mo out of the year. -Work days can be chaotic if equipment breaks down or someone calls out. -Since you are independent, you can get very passive aggressive emails from management. You rarely see anyone who works at the office. -Training is not enough. You basically have to figure out yourself. -You don't get a set lunch or a lunch at all some days. -No room to grow. -Long Days. -Bad on your back. Heavy outdated equipment.

Pros

Strong since of community at local level, and support from Directors and regional managers however all that support is no longer employed.

Cons

Revolving CEO lead to new strategic focus every 3 years. Round after round of layoffs, mergers, restructures. I went through no less than 6 during my 5 years as a senior manager. Lost local control, and ability to build relationships with accounts. Closed offices based on lease agreements rather than area performance. I would be very careful to ask questions about culture, and tenure of staff, ask how many offices were closed or restructures have happened since Shutterfly, and then Apollo Global Capital. Apollo Global Management usually holds onto assets for 3-5 years, we are past that mark so I would be expecting that they will be breaking up Shutterfly in the near future if it is no longer profitable.
