Pros

- you get to work at a beautiful metro garden - being outside -hiring process was friendly, consistent and fast

Cons

- no photography skills needed - it's all preset. - total lack of new employee training. Everything is glossed over much too quickly, and then whichever head photographer you worked with would get angry if you didn't know fill-in-the-blank. - lack of communication to employers, about payroll, training, shift schedules, etc. - the technology and tools provided were failing constantly - the quality of the photos wouldn't matter at times. - Overall they didn't practice what they preached.

Pros

Strong since of community at local level, and support from Directors and regional managers however all that support is no longer employed.

Cons

Revolving CEO lead to new strategic focus every 3 years. Round after round of layoffs, mergers, restructures. I went through no less than 6 during my 5 years as a senior manager. Lost local control, and ability to build relationships with accounts. Closed offices based on lease agreements rather than area performance. I would be very careful to ask questions about culture, and tenure of staff, ask how many offices were closed or restructures have happened since Shutterfly, and then Apollo Global Capital. Apollo Global Management usually holds onto assets for 3-5 years, we are past that mark so I would be expecting that they will be breaking up Shutterfly in the near future if it is no longer profitable.
