Pros

+Different Location each day +Co-workers (other photographers) are great to work with +Making kids smile + Reasonable training sessions for employees with entry level or no photography experience

Cons

-Physically demanding job - Absolutely compensation for the amount of driving you do - Pay had been changed without proper notice - All employees were paid different rates - No health benefits - ESOP a retirement money market was destroyed by upper management and corporate. A 401K was put into place with Shutterfly buying the company but a very small percentage is being “matched” I believe it was 3% - You get dropped after your first season with no warning so if you leave any full time position to work at Lifetouch, you will go into financial hardship! All other employers go on Unemployment but that will not pay your bills living on Long Island no matter what the season may be and it is in no way shape or form worth claiming you are unemployed when this job takes up too much time to do any other part time work - Hard physical labor, some days without a lunch break. You carry around 300 pounds of equiptment in your own car every single day - Technology used needs to be updated - Students are not scheduled properly which leaves a lot of room for error and distress - Miscommunication between the internal office/customer service representatives/ sales representatives and photographers - No room for growth within the company unless you give up your entire life and become a slave to the machine. Managers were in the office non-stop and half of them had cars that were falling apart ( Fenders and Windows were duct taped in place) I personally would not continue with a company that shows you that after 10-15 years of working there, you still can’t afford a nice car, especially with the amount of miles this job forces you to drive. I had personally put over 10K Miles a year on my car and starting 2018 you are no longer able to claim those miles on your taxes - There is no overtime and some weeks you work well over 40 hours a week when you include the drive time - Work schedules are insane. They will send a photographer that lives in Riverhead to the Bronx and send a photographer that lives in Valley Stream to Greenport. Managament puts no thought process into scheduling and is unorganized - Any advice given to management to better the work environment was valued as an opinion and nothing more - Managament will take, take, take. You are used ONLY to their benefit - You are expected to be on call all hours of the day/night - Safety of their workers is not a priority (working in schools with asbestus, construction, mice and cockroaches, summer time you will get put in a room with no air condition) and driving in a small vehicle with all of the equiptment is extremely dangerous! - They will hire literally anyone just to get the job done because the company is falling apart - They have been losing reliable, experienced photographers in the last several years due to their inadequate managing skills - Customers receive photographs of their children with eyes closed and funny faces because there are people photographing with no experience or compassion for the work they do. Plus most school schedules are not put together properly by office workers, leaving strenuous and unachievable time frames for a proper and comfortable experience for most students. - Overpriced images and underpaid employees - A dream job that turns into a hopeless situation. Find yourself another employer that will take care of their employees. It’s unfortunate but true.

Pros

Great Sales Team. Remote based position.

Cons

-Losing out to competitors has become acceptable or business as usual. -Management has become out of touch with what is going on in the field. -Outdated Photography equipment. -There is constant turnover with photographers. Difficult to keep good people when they are not paid well & have no structure. -Company is very reactionary. Making cuts seems to always be their answer to solve low profits.
