Pros

None since company merged and the headquarters (and senior management positions) moved out of the USA.

Cons

Neuromodulation business was profitable when company could focus on only VNS therapy (Cyberonics). Once company merged, seems like most all profits from VNS were used to fund the Cardiac surgery (which were costly franchises with little to no profit margins). Management focus now turned to keeping the European franchises afloat, resulting in big challenges to VNS product lines. Also attempts to standardize procedures (make them global) have also created problems since the requirements for operating in different global regions are very different. Functional staff at each of the locations are required to deal with the resulting (non-optimal) procedures. Not a good situation.

Pros

I think leadership puts a lot of thought into strategy, including the new human imperatives. They're having the right discussions and gathering employee insights. The culture is good and getting better from where i sit (but there is a lot of variability on experiences based on location culture) and I haven't met very many 'weak links' - people are smart and they work hard. Most people really, sincerely care about helping patients.

Cons

The size of the company means career pathing will just be limited. You really have to take control of your path and forge it- you can't wait for the organization to bubble up opportunities for you in a way that may be possible at larger organizations.
