Pros

As a salesperson the name "Los Angeles Times" open doors and calls are returned. It's a fun atmosphere to work in downtown Los Angeles. The Time Mirror Square has so much history and it was product to be proud of.

Cons

Instead of embracing the internet, the Los Angeles Times did not move forward. It was a cash cow that did not need to go out and get the business . . .the business came to their doors. It was the Los Angeles Times. Unfortunately, business stop knocking at the door and did not understand how to win it back. They started cutting pricing and did not sell the value of the product. Its in turmoil now and may have been for years prior.

Pros

Good focus on long-form writing and journalism; lots of lovely people worked here and there was a nice community outside of the office; felt like a legit civic institution that people in L.A. care about.

Cons

Uneven management with unclear long-term priorities and conflicting top-down mandates. Not very willing to collaborate with the union.
