Pros
I know there were layoffs and we talk. Here is my objective opinion. I hope it helps you. - CEO is inspiring. - We have technology capabilities that no other company has and that is a good place to be, I think. - Opportunity to work at some of the largest scale in the world. - Opportunity to work with open source technologies that will be around for a long time, e.g. Apache Spark and Kubernetes. - Work/life balance is great. Everyone is very chilled out. Like, just get your work done. - Fun social events occasionally. - Diverse workforce, with many different perspectives involved. There are also many women and minorities in leadership positions, which is rare and refreshing. - Almost all of our customers remain with us so revenue is predictable. From what I can tell, we have lost two or three big customers, mostly to issues beyond anyone's control. We lost a small customer because Solr has been a little late to some of the current methods of deployment, and so our company was as well. - Some of the smartest people in the industry work here, and to be honest I cannot figure out why. Maybe they love Solr, maybe it's because they love each other. Whatever the reason may be, it's a great opportunity for me to learn from them. - I like Chief People She is weird and celebrates weird. We need those people to do new stuff, I think. I am not sure her team gets it but I have never interact with them. I just hear stuff.
Cons
- We need more engineers. - We need to be more competitive with top startups in our space on compensation. Compensation is good, but could be better. Without high compensation we will not attract the top talent. - Need to beef up AI team. I don't agree with a previous comment I read about AI on reviews, but we need to make a substantial tactical investment in that area to continue to improve. - Don't take away visa right away to former employees. It did not happen to me. I don't like it.
