The 4-day work-from-office policy offers reasonable hybrid flexibility.

Cons

The work culture at Lumen is deeply toxic, driven by office politics and self-preservation rather than merit or performance. Leadership, especially directors with 20+ years in the company, behaves as untouchable — resisting change and blocking fresh ideas. There is no clear vision or strategic direction, leaving teams confused, reactive, and demoralized. The recent layoff impacted around 350+ employees — mostly individual contributors and some low-level managers — while senior managers and directors remained completely unaffected, exposing a clear double standard. The people who built this broken culture faced zero accountability, while those doing the actual work paid the price. Career growth is minimal, innovation is absent, and the company feels focused on managing decline rather than investing in its people.

Easy to learn, manageable schedule, supportive management

Cons

Changes in systems with many malfunctions, confusing workflows, policies set with little guidance (like figure it out yourself)

Pros

- Benefits are great, medical coverages are great and there are a few plans to choose from that makes sense for you. Prescription coverage has changed a bit over the years and declined a bit but still within reasonable expectations. The additional perks and benefit services are great, lots of savings and reimbursement options. - teams are great and collaboration is necessary, but easy when you work with great people

Cons

- stability is a large concern for most of the population, as with any transformation and AI focused company there is a gap in the value of people vs. the value of time and money. It never used to be this way.
