Pros

Discount OTC meds, Free vaccines, various food vendors in the cafeteria , great coworkers

Cons

Poor management, the worst, least people get promoted to positions of leadership and then they either, have too much pride because they must know everything already, that they do a terrible job and many mistakes, or they rely entirely on the people beneath them, who should've been promoted instead, to do their job for them. I'd say that both of these happen equally. It is very discouraging and soul-sucking to work for anyou institution that has these great core values that it holds itself to, but only in regards to the patients and not the staff. Sure, the patients pay the bills, most of them, but it's the staff that take care of them, and it's the support staff that takes care of the hospital. And they just don't seem to get it. Either that or they don't care. They act like it's a privilege for you to work there. And, in a way, they're right. Let's see you quit and go find yourself another job. Another thing: benefits! For a hospital, you'd expect them to be top of the line. Or at least, better! Every year, the price of the plans go up, but year, what you're getting is a bit less. When I was first hired, there was no copay for a MRI. For the last 3 or 4 th years they went up to $150! You used to be able to get simple tests done at your doctor's office, like an EKG. Now, same thing as with the MRI. The prescription costs went up. Except for birth control, those (all methods!) are FREE! Now, that's a GOOD on! The office visits are $25 and specialty doctor's are $40, nearly double what is was when I started. ER visits, where you work!, are $150 a pop. So, to sum it up, the benefits blow because they're overpriced, but they do cover a lot and they're good other than that. You will know how to do you job better than your supervisor and be way better at it. Basically, if you act at all like you know what you're doing, you're probably not got getting anywhere. But talk a bunch of hot air and blow s bunch of smoke, don't show them that you can do anything at all, and you're going places, baby!

Pros

Worked in the ER. Coworkers were phenomenal, most providers were wonderful to work with and very knowledgeable. There can be cliqueish work environment.

Cons

Management is not very helpful. Many incidents with MH pt where staff was involved and then asked what they could have done differently to prevent said situation instead of assisting to take action against it happening again. Staff turnover is crazy and pay is not great, considering they are constantly hiring new travel RNs, yet paying their staff bare minimum.
