Pros

Very ethical in its use of recycled, fair trade, and sustainable products and packaging. Accepting of a diverse range of employees, from refugees to eccentric appearances. Generous discount of products to employees.

Cons

Myself and a few other staff members were bullied, and though head office was aware of it, no action was taken to the individual who was bullying staff. Of the 6 people that left in a 12 month period, 5 were due to the bullying. A great divide between stores and head office. It appears that as long as the store is making money, HO does not care how managers treat their staff members. This results in favoritism, bullying, power struggles, and overall tension in stores. As a company that began in the UK, there are standards that are expected of the Australasian team that are not reasonable. Different country, different people, and different clientele should result in different products, sales tactics, and KPOs. Sales tactics are extremely aggressive, and sales assistants are encouraged to hound customers with strategies such as not asking the customer if they would like to be touched with product and to instead tell them to give them their arm for a demonstration.

Pros

Excellent inclusive company culture, employee discount, learning about natural ingredients for skincare, genuinely great and engaged team members, flexible work schedule for part time or casual positions.

Cons

High amount of work, unreasonable "evidence driven" feedback and coaching models, and unrealistic performance metrics for comically low pay, especially for floor coordinators. No additional pay given for specialty roles, which is many enhanced responsibilities over a specific area of the business, and little opportunity for career growth beyond the sales floor unless you are hired from an external management position. Floor Coordinator seems to be the highest rung most people can hit before being driven elsewhere.
