Pros
This is a good company to start for newbies. Corporate is quite big and relocation is possible, but not to rich countries, cause your salary would be ridiculous. There is training available, but you have to sign up for it six months in advance.
Cons
My time at Luxoft Russia turned out to be quite disappointing and frustrating. Even though the company may seem good on the surface, there were many problems that made it tough to work there. I was working as a recruiter at Luxoft Russia until they suddenly moved to Serbia because of the war. When the big move happened in March, lots of us were relocated, and the company paid for it. But they didn't really explain how we'd have to pay them back. I was surprised to find out about an extra agreement that said I had to give them money back depending on how long I worked there: 100% if it was less than 4 months, 85% if it was under 8 months, 50% for 8 to 14 months, and 25% if I worked there for over 14 months. It felt like they were lending me money for the move and then taking it back from my pay, almost like I owed them. The company also charged a lot for moving expenses, and if we didn't stick to their plan exactly, they fined us. I once had to pay for a full 20 days in a hotel because I had to leave earlier than planned. They didn't tell me beforehand. They ignored agreements with hotels and made us pay, even though they already paid for the whole time. To make things worse, they didn't tell us that they were making us pay for some things, like work permits, under Serbian law. They also added a $500 charge for visa help, but they didn't explain what it covered and they didn't show us a breakdown of costs. The HR and legal departments were also slow to respond and not very helpful. I had to keep asking them for paperwork to prove what they were taking money for. It was strange that the people who should make decisions were often on vacation or waiting for approval from someone higher up. It made me wonder if the company was being run well. Lastly, the HR department made mistakes with paperwork when I left. I had to go to the office many times to fix errors. Because of their mistakes, I had to go to the post office in person to pay them back for the move. They also didn't tell me I couldn't pay at the bank because I wasn't a resident. They just gave me a slip with an account number and a vague note. Banks wouldn't accept card payments over a certain amount, so I had to pay in small chunks. In a nutshell, Luxoft was a mess. They didn't treat their employees fairly and seemed disorganized. I had a hard time there. I hope this review helps others think twice before working at Luxoft.
