Pros

Worked primarily with another specialist and was given a wide latitude with minimum supervision. The training was very good. Within the scope of our duties our schedules and such were quite flexible - as long as there was coverage at the branch.

Cons

The concept of the unit was new so details were still being worked out but overall I'd rate the experiment as a failure. Basically we were a bank branch without tellers (an ATM was supposed to substitute for tellers). There were 4 of these centers and all of these seemed to be experiencing a good deal of employee angst. It was a boring job because most potential customers didn't get the concept.

Bank Holidays and the vacation time

They hire knowing there is not enough work to keep you busy, Lack of pay and what they promised to make up for the pay in bonus and OT does not happen. Lack of experienced management who knows what they are doing. QC department that picks on every small detail vs knowing how to get a loan purchased and move on. MOST OF ALL, there is NO training. You are left out in to figure and fend for yourself the M&T Bank way. Lots of useless weekly meetings and the only ones that stay are the long time employees are have no experience working in a "real" mortgage company to know what is right and wrong.
