Pros
o Work life balances in maintained, typical 9-5 with telework opportunities o Good company benefits with an option to sign up for extras/discounts (Tuition Reimbursement, Aflac, Legal etc)
Cons
o Life can be very different from project to project, zero consistency depending on the government client. o Your idea are just that...your ideas. On these government contract, you are not in charge. o Often time the people you work for are going to be earning less than you do, and they may hold a slight resentment for you because of it. o I have not seen an actually career progression plan. In order to go from a Systems Engineer I to a Systems Engineer II, a position must exist and you have to apply for it just like outside prospects. Often times the positions don't exist within you same project. If you're in a project you absolutely love, you are going to have to risk leaving the project.
