Pros

MIT offers exceptional benefits, including amazing tuition reimbursement opportunities and full-time health benefits for half-time work. In addition, you have the chance to work with some outstanding people and, depending on the role, deal with some interesting issues.

Cons

Dysfunction is sweeping and systemic. Politics are rife at any university, but the intensity of the politics depends on who's leading the school at any given time. Under present leadership at the business school, politics are especially frenzied. Bureaucracy is such that the unfit are rarely fired and often promoted to leadership positions. The politically skilled rise swiftly; some are talented at other things, and some are not, but political skill trumps everything.

Pros

High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

Cons

Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
