Pros

Majority of the people were great to work with. I was in a pretty visible role and had a great, friendly relationship with everyone from the mail room to the C suite. The work was interesting, challenging at times, and gave me a lot of experience to grow from.

Cons

Reorg was messy. My position moved to another department that was in another location. I sat alone among people who I did not work with directly, so relationships with immediate peers were hard to come by. New director made my direct manager change some ratings on my personal review, which from what I remember is was not allowed per HR rules. If you check the box that says 'I disagree,' you only come off as disgruntled, so you have no choice but to accept it and move on. This director did not allow my manager to manage me. She seemed to thrive on micromanagement to the point where I could not perform my job duties without any oversight or self-drive, and the stress of it all started to affect my health. In the new department I was transferred to, I felt like some responsibilities I was given were not in my job description. Specifically, I was frequently asked to 'schedule meetings,' and make copies. Administrative tasks that typically, I would have no problem doing if they were once in a while, but I felt like I was frequently looked at as another secretary rather than a specialist as my title described. One superior person in my department (who was not my direct manager) even told me to tell my husband to get a better job when he found out I had a family. Not something you should say to any woman, no matter the age or family status! And this was coming from a man who was responsible for organizing an after work event and told me my attendance was necessary, and then didn't attend himself. I had to ask my husband to bring our infant so that I could nurse and be comfortable while there.

Pros

The people are very friendly and care about the mission to support and serve communities. Additionally the benefits are fantastic and a major contributor to retention.

Cons

RTO has certainly impacted company moral in addition to the multiple rounds of layoffs that have left the survivors with guilt and more hats to stack. Employees are stretched thin with no authority, but bear all the responsibility and risk. What worries me most is the lack of direction from leadership. There are major flaws in the business strategy, one glaring issue that stands out, there are no stable processes. I have repeatedly seen processes shake up every six months, teams be laid off, and then new inside perspective brought in. Without this focus, staff has lost vision in the work and change fatigue sets in.
