Pros
Friendly management. Store promotes a team atmosphere. Company had great values and would stand behind them regardless of public perception. There were always fun things going on, like free food, dress up days, and store competitions. Employee discount is great. AST role provided great experience into Human Resources. Promotions from within the store were common.
Cons
Low pay, and hours were inconsistent. Employee retention was poor because interviews are given to just about anyone and the process is very easy - most employee's did not seem to take the job seriously. AST role can be a little undefined and if you aren't someone who is constantly looking for work, you can find yourself with nothing to do. Most importantly, customers are simply not shopping in stores like they used to - everything can be done online now. Many stores were shut down while I was working there, making you worry constantly about job security.
