Pros
there are no pros to working at macys
Cons
they hire you on the premise that you should all be team players yet they treat the employees like slave laborers. the store is run horribly (east Brunswick NJ). theres no system and they expect employees to be everywhere at once, and have no problem humiliating you in front of customers. the store is looking very schlocky (poor management?). needs updating, its dirty, carpet is filthy and worn out and a safety hazard, and theres poor air circulation and its stiflingly hot. they need to look at successful stores that are better run, such as kohl's that has a separate return and customer service area which makes it run more smoothly. there are people working strictly at the fitting rooms which keeps it cleaner and more accessible to customers, in macy's (EB NJ), you cant clean fittng rooms since theres no place to put the clothes removed from them (schlocky). they should also do away with the ipod which theyre trying to implement as a way to make sales and ring people up rather than only using the cash registers. its a horrific failure which makes a transaction three times longer, let alone the germs that are passed between customers who need to sign and press buttons with their fingers. and they tell employees who dont know how to use it that they will be fired on the spot if they dont use it. there is absolutely zero training, they put you in a room for two days in front a computer without explaining anything, and no breaks or lunch, then tell you go out and work.
