Pros
Macy's has a very clean store, and it's a job that does not require a degree.
Cons
We are simply selling things. There is zero need for the absolute stress heaped upon us by management. You would think we are there to sell things - that is not the truth at all. We are in the store to open credit cards, add customers to a my client list (so that Macy's can gather your information to sell? to others), clean the store for management visits, now enroll customers in a new loyalty program. Selling is last. We as store associates are under tremendous pressure from management to stand at the register to enter all sorts of information on every customer, but at the same time, we are under tremendous pressure from management to be on the floor to help the customers. We can't be in both places at one time. The push from management to add "every" customer to a secret client file that can be accessed by any Macy's management employee at any time is tremendous. We were told in training that a client is someone a relationship was built with, however, now we're told that every customer, even those purchasing a $1.99 clearance item, is to be added to a "my client" file. As more and more of Macy's customers are encouraged to shop online and not in the stores, it's quite apparent that Macy's is gathering this information to eventually eliminate all retail in store jobs.
